Texas State Aero Championship - Fifth Annual Firecracker Regatta

26th - 27 June 2021
875981 1024xdne

Viridian Sailing Center is proud to announce our FIFTH Firecracker regatta & Texas State Aero Championship. Join us for a weekend of racing at the home of North America's largest RS Aero fleet -- one of the hottest one-design fleets in the United States.

The Regatta is open to RS Aero 5, 7, and 9 fleets. A fleet shall consist of three or more boats of the same rig. Where a fleet does not have three or more boats, the sailor shall choose the rig of a fleet of three or more boats. Fleets will start together. Starts will be at the discretion of the PRO and will be outlined in Skipper's meeting.

If you are not a pass holder, you can charter an RS Aero from the VSC fleet for a charter fee of $100.

Registration is now open. Sign up by June 19th to get a free limited edition Firecracker Regatta visor! Late Registration will be conducted on Saturday, June 26, 2021, between 0800 and 0830 at the Sailing Center dock. All sailors are required to check-in by 0900 on Saturday, even if the sailor pre-registered. Participants will receive a registration packet upon check-in.

(6.18.2021) UPDATE - Due to the high demand for Aero 9 charters, we cannot offer any more 9 Aero charters. If you were the first to register for an Aero 9 rig online, you will have an Aero 9 rig set aside for you. A competitor may change their rig up to the point of finalizing registration on-site without penalty. The cut-off is at the start of Skipper's Meeting (9:15 AM). If an Aero 9 sailor wishes to change to an Aero 7 at onsite registration, we will use the online registration list to determine the next person in line to have the Aero 9 rig. If an Aero 7 sailor wishes to change to an Aero 9, they will be placed on the waiting list. Questions? Please contact Vice Commodore Rachel Coward.

All Viridian Sailing Center Aeros will be launched at the Sailing Center. For participants chartering a boat, please let us know the size of the rig you would like to use upon registration (Aero 5, 7, or 9). Dollies will be made available for launching.

Visiting boats can be launched at the sailing center if dollies will fit through the gate (we can fit an Aero dolly), at Viridian beach, or on the Viridian Ramp located on the Northwest corner of the lake. There is no security guard on-site, and the Viridian Sailing Center will not assume responsibility for property left on the premises. The Viridian dock will be the central meeting place for regatta activities.

Restrooms will be available at the Regent Pavilion, located 50 yards east of the Lakeview Event and Conference Center (LECC). THESE ARE ACCESSIBLE BY ACCESS PASS ONLY. Passes will be located at the dock; ask at the front desk. Portajohns and changing tents will be available as well.

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or before, during, or after the regatta.

All competitors must sign a waiver before participating in the event.
